A cheap rental car for a week? ?

I am going home to visit ( Tampa Florida) for a week (feb 8th-16th) Im going to rent a car while im there but Im having trouble finding one for less then 300...Dose anyone have any tips, tricks, advise for someone that has never rented a car before? I need a midsized or larger sedanA cheap rental car for a week? ?

I've found that it's cheaper to rent a car out of a smaller airport.





Also, Priceline.com name your own price may be an idea for you.. You'll put in an offer and your credit card info. If your offer is accepted, they'll book your reservation immediately. Have you check Priceline and Travelocity? Also, if you belong to any clubs or organizations (AAA?), they often have discount codes and/or free upgrades.





Outside of that, you may do better to call the local office, instead of going thru the main website.





Lastly, you might want to shop locations, if there are multiple locations for a particular outlet (Hertz, Avis, Budget), you may find that renting away from the airport is much cheaper, even if you factor in a taxi fare (but sometimes they will pick you up free).
i don't know where you are located,but some cities have a rental car place rent a wreck.no it's not a wrecked car,but it's cheap transportation.look in the yellow pages.also Enterprise rentals are some deals.let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages and call around.

Check with your credit card company and see if they offer discounts for rentals. Also most offer discounts if you are military or work for the Federal government.
